Nous Non Plus have been invited back to France to play the Francofolies in La Rochelle on July 16. It's kind of a big deal and you can read about the festival here. We've got new videos coming from Nous Non Plus and Hello Stranger, Space Mtn have started a new album, Golem has a new CD out on JDub and are touring in Sept, The Bangkok Five are truly taking over the rock world, Les Sans Culottes continue their domination of the Brooklyn French Rock scene, ...and I've just heard 4 new songs from The Scooters Chris Kelly and they are great! Not sure what this all means as of now, but wow, I'm pretty excited. NOUS NON PLUS HELLO STRANGER THE BANGKOK FIVE THE SHYS There is more, but I think I've reached the limit of all of our attention spans. Combined. Ciccone will be coming to the States for the first time, playing a series of shows in NYC with Chris Chinchilla (ex-Art Brut) and much, much more. Mar 20 - SXSW was amazing, as usual. The value of free beer is inestimable (1. Impossible to estimate or compute: inestimable damage. 2. Of immeasurable value or worth; invaluable). It was great to hang out with the guys from The Bangkok Five and The Shys - two of the hardest working bands in show business, and for that, I salute them. Mar 04 - looking ahead to SXSW....The Bangkok Five will be there. The Shys will be there. Aeronaut will be there. If you can't get in to see Arctic Monkeys (and you can't), come and see these two bands. You will not be disappointed. Mar 01 - As you may or may not know, The Gun Shys have changed their name to The Shys. The usual reasons. They have a new CD coming out soon, and you can hear some of the songs on their MySpace page. Very, very good stuff. Oh yeah, their page is here. Also, today, The Shys start their month long tour with The Subways - a very good band from the UK; the kind of band we'd love to have on Aeronaut if we only had that kind of money. Jan 27 - So much news....so little time. 2005 Dec 29 - This is that crazy time of year when everyone pretends they're not working. Unlike the rest of the year when everyone pretends they are working. New '06 shows are going up for some of the bands. I wish someone around here had the energy or the talent to write one of those year end wrap-ups. No such luck. And as far as one of those "things to look out for in '06"? Well, that's just silly. Have fun on NYE. Nov 24 - Happy Thanksgiving. Now check the tours page. Nov 22 - For people who keep track of these things, and I know you do...Nous Non Plus' debut CD was the #2 most added record on the CMJ charts. It was surpassed by only Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, who promptly called and apologized for singing in English. And I had thought we had a deal. Nov 17 - The brand new ...Nous Non Plus CD has gone out to press and radio. The NYC record release show is at The Merc on Dec 1. This time, the band will be bringing the sounds of Franglais to Seattle and Portland and any other cities that will have them. Nov 12 - The Bangkok Five are off the road after playing 70 shows. Well done. No one died. And they still kind of like each other. They'll take a bit of a rest, and then perhaps play a show or two on the west coast. Early next year, they'll release their major label full length and forget who their friends are. Oct 29 - It's hard to get reliable help these days, and that includes people to make up and write exciting news stories. Let's see, we have a new CD coming out from Nous Non Plus. Read this article from Slate.com and you'll be up to speed on who they are and why. Oct. 15 - The Gun Shys signed with Sire Records. Although we're not big fans of major labels, if you have to sign with one, Sire is a good choice. History, tradition and currently, some pretty cool bands. April 2 - Les Sans Culottes on NPR's Weekend Edition. Re-live it over and over until you can tell the story to all your friends. Click here to hear! March 15 - Listen for Les San Culottes on NPR's Weekend Edition (March 19-20). It's the tale of the making of "Fixation Orale". It's the story of love lost and love found; of intrigue and deception. You'll laugh and you'll cry. But above all, you will lose about 10 to 12 minutes of your life. March 1 - FREE BEER!! Both The S'Cool Girls and The Gun Shys will be appearing at SXSW. Check the tours page. Feb 12 - The Gun Shys CD will be in stores April 5th. We are all very excited. Seriously. June 1 - More Les Sans Culottes news - Fixation Orale has broken the magic Top 20 of CMJ's Top 200. It is currently at #18. What this means is that French-American relations will thaw, paving the way for the new wave of French by way of Brooklyn rock. Is it any surprise that GW just said that Jaques Chirac is his friend? I think not. May 10 - Les Sans Culottes' album, "Fixation Orale" went to radio and had a great first week. The CD was added at 75 stations, which put it in a tie for #3 most added.
